Medical Devices Companies say No to EANnet for National Product Catalogue
22 June 2006
HIBCC AU has released a position paper supported by many of the major medical devices companies objecting to the decision by NEHTA to create a National Product Catalogue (NPC) hosted on the EANnet system.
The decision by NEHTA to host the NPC on EANnet is by default endorsing the GS1 standards over the HIBCC standards. The HIBCC standards are accredited by ANSI and ratified by ISO. Endorsing the GS1 standards introduces a technical barrier to trade to those suppliers that choose to use the HIBCC standards.
